so i bought this used c4 tranny for my mav project and the seller said if he can find the TC Im more than welcome to come pick that up too for free. But he disapeared after the sale (go figure) and now im sitting here with the c4 in my garage but no TC. My question for the forumers is: CAN I INSTALL THE TORQUE CONVERTOR THAT IS CURRENTLY IN MY 74 MAV THAT HAS THE 200 SIX POPPER MOTOR? Keep in mind im gonna install my 351W motor and this c4 i just recently bought used. I was told my Mav and the current c4 tranny and 6 popper motor may have a "smaller c4 tranny"...Im NOT sure what the heck that means but I just now thot hey maybe I can use the TC that is already in my tranny! That would save me some cash but Im not sure if that would work? Seems to "me" a c4 tranny TC should all be interchangable...?

I would guess (could be wrong) that all small bell housing C4 converters would work fine.

But why put in a 351 and keep a stock USED converter?

I put in a used stock converter behind my rebuilt 5.0+.040 roller, and recent rebuilt tranny, and now that I have it all together and have put 250 miles on it, the only regret is that I didn't spend the money on a decent converter...

Not sure i feel comfortable buying a used converter from someone new to the forum, and who's car is a "http://russian-brides-best.com"...:16suspect

The price is right and it is what I am looking for, but unless I could meet you and the converter in person, I wouldn't even think of doing an internet deal with you.

    Nothing personal.

your going to have to get a converter, from a v8.200-6 trans won't go behind a 302/351w.you could use a trans from a 250-6,but i do believe you have to use a t/c from an 8 cyl. "smaller c4 tranny"means that the bellhousing bolt pattern (on the 200/6) is smaller than the 250/6-302-351w.when you get a t/c get the matching flywheel.another thing to keep in mind,is what flywheel size are you going to need.theres a 157 and a 164 tooth flywheel.
