I've seen lots of old Mavericks with Trailer hitches on them. I'm sure somebody on the board has taken one off of their car or know where there is one in a junk yard.

I don`t know but I`ll be putting one on mine soon to pull mine and my mothers new boat because the boat is small and there isn`t over 75 lbs weight on the hitch I don`t need to beef up the frame I`ll just find a kit to bolt to the bumper :)

I dont know of any but I had one on my Sprint for many years. The U shaped rear support went under the bumper, on each side of the license plate, and bolted in the tail light panel along the same plane as the bumper itself. Then there was a bar that ran from where the ball was mounted, under and up the front of the gas tank, and bolted to the trunk floor. It had about a 6" long brace that strengthened up the trunk floor where it was bolted to. This was for the small bumper cars.

I wouldn't tow anything with a bumper mount hitch. You're putting a lot of stress on the old bumper mounts, even with a lightweight boat & trailer. I tow with my truck and Jeep with class III hitches and I feel the stresses even with my lightweight open cargo trailer. If the load is as light as you say, you'd likely get away with a universal frame bolt on class I hitch. I've seen them made by Reese at Wal-Mart. Look at a JC Whitney catalog also. If they don't have something that will work much safer than a bumper hitch, it doesn't exist. I'm sure something exists that will work.

Wes: Thanks for response. I owe you an "Iron City". [Ex-Pgh. native]. I'm not keen on bumper hitches either, unless they tie to frame. Don't see anything listed in Whitney's. If I don't come across something appropriate, I'll have one fabricated.

    Hey masondr19

    Hey masondr19
I made one a while back but i did it quickly because I was late getting the Idea. What I did was used the 2 brackets that were already on the frame and built a reciever type hitch. Heres a couple of pics of it for you to see what i did . I used it with a cargo carrier with probably about 200 lbs on it on a 200 mile trip with no problems. If you are planning on pulling a trailer I would probably put larger bolts in the frame. The holes are larger than the factory bolts. I will probably use it to build a nice one for it over the winter that is more hidden.
    Later Tim
