Much easier. BUT, if you don't use a 90 degree fitting (does not have to be a "AN" fitting), it may be difficult to wrestle the lines between the battery & radiator. Regular 90 degree pipe fittings & 3/8" nipples will work just fine.
PS: I cut off the 90 degree mounting brackets plus some on the Derale , and then made a 90 degree piece out of aluminum to mount the cooler closer to the wall - such that the fittings were facing directly into the bend of the radiator mounting piece. See attachment (shows one side), and the picture on the car (previous post) for clarity.
Thanks for the update. I had actually flattened my mount out to maybe get the hose closer, but then bent it back in shape and flipped the whole cooler around. Thanks for the info on the reg pipe fittings working.
