I have been working on a 74 Maverick that is going to be a dedicated drag race car. I am at the point of wiring the car, I have removed all of the factory wiring and have fabricated a sheet metal dash with all of the usual gauges and switches. I have all of the wiring run to have marker lights head lights, backup lights, and brake lights. I am not going to install turn signals due to the fact that this is a drag race only car. I have installed the rear tail light housing and wired in the new bulb sockets and have verified that the brake light, marker light, and backup lights all work. I am now moving to the front of the car and am going to wire up the head lights, side marker lights, and the lights under the front bumper. My problem is I do not have the lights under the front bumper, or the side marker light housings. I also do not have the headlight bulb "bucket" housings or trim rings. My question is are there early Mustang parts that can be used in these applications, or will I need to use Maverick only parts. One thing I have been wondering about is the 1970 Mustang front marker lights that resemble the Maverick under bumper turn signal lights. I suspect that the Mustang lights are only marker lights with one bulb filament where as the Maverick is a turn signal and marker light have two filaments. Due to the fact that I am not using turn signals is this light assembly usable in my application. I appreciate any feedback and thanks in advance
The Mustangs under bumper lights are about 3/4"-1" bigger all around than Maverick lights. The Mustang parking light's mounting bracket is also more flat than the Maverick parking lights. The 70-early '74, Maverick headlight bucket part number is the same as '67 Fairlane buckets. The late '74-'77 Maverick buckets are different than the earlier Maverick buckets. I have a set of headlight buckets that fit the early maverick's fender for sale, I'm asking $35+ the ride. These buckets were bead blasted and etched prime...waiting on the finished coat of black paint. I might have the Maverick parking light assemblies too...got to look for them.
