do a compresson test before you build a whole motor.if you do build one get a nice cam, some afr 185's,a 650 holley, rpm air gap and a few sets of tires.
well, if i tear apart the motor i am going to rebuild it, no sence opening up a 35year old engine without rebuilding any good block machinests around memphis area? i could build the block if i can get it cleaned boared, etc. (preped) then i could purhcase a rotating assembly and trick flow heads. roller rockers, cam, etc and i would be up and running. i have a good carb, intake, distributer already.
I'm new to the area too, so I don't know who the good machine shops are yet, but I know people who might. I'll ask around. Actually the place to ask around would be the Thursday night cruise-in...
