Good idea , but the Alt is almost right against the block so it cant go back any more to line up. I cant pull the pump pulley forward or it will grind on the crank pulley.

    OK

I took a serious look at my Fairlane, apparently when I installed P/S, just barely lucked out. There isn't enough space between crank & water pump pulleys to fold a sheet of computer paper into quarters and get it in there. I'm surprised it isn't rubbing. I did find water pump pulley #, same as Rick's, C7OE-8509-D. That pulley is approx 6 7/16, while crank pulley is 6".

I'll probably look for a slightly smaller crank pulley('69-earlier are three bolt, whatever I use won't fit your engine)

lol....ya just gotta not let them headers suck all the fun out of a project.....and go to the junkyard often.....It makes ya feel like Forrest Gump in a candy store. Comb through all the old ford trucks and vans....plenty of old Fords still getting scrapped cuz it takes them forever to quit. Bring a tape measure, camera phone, and other great reconnaissance supplies.

I would say go find a old dual belt water pump pulley and stick it on there.....but your engine is looking too nice to stick a pimple like that on its nose.

Have you measured inner groove of crank pulley? Looks rather large. If you use it would require a small WP pulley & RPM at speed would be very high.

Thought I would circle back around here in case anyone does a search in the future for this info....
I got it to work. I ordered a used one of these. PULLEY
It fit very well. The diameter was a little small, so I guess that means more rotations and strain on the pump. But im glad its done and on to the next part.
