June 23rd might be the best to help the people with school aged kids. Which weekend is the Mustang show?

Good idea to have it at another show IMO. However my June schedule is locked up tight. I have no open weekends. I wish this wasn't a sure summer thing, but if that's best for most it's best for all...

Ok so i replied to the wrong post the first time:huh:. I live an hour south of reno(20 minutes south of carson). Id be more than happy to help with some of the organizing for this event once we get a date set. I think late june would be better, we normally get at least one straggling snow storm in early june. The fourth of july is usually still really cold. heat will definately not be an issue, but we are at 4500 feet for those of you from much lower altitudes(and a lot higher). by the way, after the air races is street vibrations. picture HAN only made up of bikers.:evilsmile

    Purrty sooonnn.

Reno Mustangs had their monthly meeting Friday night. I'll talk to them on Monday, hopefully they have a date set. But as a qualifier they weren't as hyped as us to set it. They've done this a lot of years, twice a year, fairly calm about it, which tells me the hotel reservations won't be a problem anyway. They set up a deal every time so as soon as they set it we shouldn't have a problem getting (cheap) reservations. I'll either post here or email Monday night, or both.

    Ditto.

    Hi all,

Well, still no date. Reno Mustangs is going through some changes, they just voted to include late models in their club, and are probably consolidating their April and June shows into the June date. Since they are different style events it’s taking a little while, April more just fun stuff, June serious restore trophy hunters. Turning into a fair sized show, but not too big for us. Their drop dead date to have it all set is Jan 1, but I expect we’ll hear on date before then, probably by mid November. June 23rd(?)weekend is looking good but not for sure yet. I think that’s the date for the weekend after the Rodeo. I’d guess that’s about an 85% bet right now. I hit our “kids out of school” need again and I think that will be considered.

We are definitely included, that has already been discussed and agreed, our “just have fun with our cars“ attitude scored some points I believe. Their show is a judged mustang show, but we would probably just have a people’s choice vote and trophies for 1,2,3, maybe an owners vote trophy too, plus some general categories that would apply like best paint, farthest travelled, etc. Keeping it simple may lower our entry fees which will be somewhere between $20 and $35. If you have some ideas, throw them out now.

Their hotel deal isn’t set yet so we just need to wait on that, but again, their past rates have been great and I don’t expect any problems making reservations once they have it set. Good things might happen with this, I think it will be worth the wait. But right now ask me no questions, because I’ve been asked to tell no lies. I’ll be talking to them again in about 10 days, I’ll pass on any news then. Later.

    Wait for it.....

Still no date set. Possible next Tuesday. But not likely. Decision by committee. Time to spill the beans on the big hold up. They are trying to switch venue from a medium size hotel off the strip to one of the major casinos. Talking to a couple of the best. All I can say is when they know, we'll know. I'm checking in with the show chairman regularly. He'd like it set too.
