That's how I determined I could use the Torino/Mustang discs on My Comet.

From '70 up, five lug are same whether 6cyl or V8.

5-lug Mavericks 1971-1973 had the smaller hub wheels as they all had drum brakes. When Ford went to disc brakes as an option in 1974, the drum brake hub increased in size to match the disc brake hub size.

According to the info under you picture, you have a 1974 Maverick. Your car will already have the large hub wheels. So you can reuse your wheels with a factory disc brake set-up.

I would go here and use their kit. It is factory identical to what factory disc brakes would have been on your car. Any shop could perform this swap for you. Not too difficult for a basic mechanic.

Hollanders Interchange lists two std wheels used on '71-'77, difference is width(4½" vs 6"), states they interchange. Narrower wheel used on some '71-'73. Wider wheel used all years, incl '71-'73 Mustang, '75-'80 Granada, '77-'80 Versailles.

Is there an easy way to tell for sure from the attached photos of my spare rim? My Maverick is a '74 but was manufactured in late '73, I know sometimes Ford was known to not fully purge out the prior years parts for the new model year.

I really can't tell from a picture. I always double check my wheels by putting them on a disc brake rotor to see if it fits over the hub.

From that picture, that is the bigger hole hub and will fit disc hub.
The smaller hub hole is 2 7/16"

Thanks, I figured they were probably right from Craigs post but wanted to be sure before ordering the swap kit.

Sorry but different hub size for drum vs disc is B/S. Makes no sense to use different wheels. The Hollanders interchange verifies this fact, hub size for five lugs increased in 1970 for both drum & disc. My '72 drums are larger than original disc hubs on my Cobra Jet.

    Frank You are a ASS!

OR is it you're not smart enough to know I'm talking about a 1969 vs 1970-up?

Makes no difference, spindle diameter and bearing usage for V8 Falcon through grandma's LTD wagon was all same through '69. In '70 V8 spindle diameter increased which required larger bearings and increased the size of hub, requires larger wheel opening. My '81 Hollanders that goes back to '71, lists several wheels from '71 through '80 as interchanging. No doubt '70 V8 is same as well.

In case someone isn't familiar with a Hollander interchange, it's the manual used nationwide by the salvage yards to know what part fits year to year, or on other models. If you needed a 6" wide wheel for '72 Maverick, one for '71-'73 Mustang or '75 -80 Granada etc is same.
