I have a 1977 Maverick with a mild 250 six(clay smith cam and lifters, weber 2bbl, balanced, new pre timing chain and header) but I need a high torque mini starter for the header clearance.

    Will this work?

    I would say...YES...:Handshake

"A proper 250ci or small block V8 starter should be used. A 3.8 V6 starter will also fit and is smaller and shorter if header clearance is an issue. Tilton or Ford Racing gear drive starters for a small block V8 will also work."

I have a 250 6 cyl and i installed a mini from NAPA. I believe it fits a 95 Mustang. Lifetime warranty. LMK if you are interested and I can dig out the receipt for the part number. Its been in for awhile with no problems. I needed it for header clearance ...
