I’m looking for options. I figured since my car has the tank built in to the trunk that someone has came up with a drop in style fuel cell to replace the 1970 maverick tank

The tank is damaged really good. Besides being caved in the vent system is damaged badly. For what I’m seeing nothing is available for the 70 tank. I’m really putting some attention on my maverick. I just got done buying a 5 lug 8” out of a 73 comet. Just had the diff rebuilt and redoing all the brakes. Next week I’m going to be installing a factory brake bracket for under the dash for the power booster. Already upgraded to disc brakes in the front. Next project is I’m rebuilding a 289 out of a 66 Mustang for my car
I’m looking to have a really nice grabber clone that is new to me. I’ve had this car since 2002. I’ve done a lot over the years but it’s been parked for the last 8 years with no motor after the 200 strait six died. Around 2005 I had bought a 63 Ford f100 and it had the 289 in it. Ended up stealing the transmission out of the truck when my maverick was my daily driver after it’s transmission broke. I traded the truck but I kept the 289 and I got V8 mounts for the maverick so it’s finally time for the restoration of the maverick
being it sounds like you are going to keep the car, building from scratch...5.0...more bang for the buck.

I actually already have a Mustang tank out of a 70. I was trying to avoid cutting into the trunk. But it’s good to see what you did, looks good. I’ll research the tank I have and see if I want to commit to cutting. Unfortunately there’s a fire ban in my area and I can’t use my welder until winter Thank you
For about 2 minutes I thought about cutting the top off the 70 tank and mounting a fuel cell in that but it would have given me even less capacity. 22 gallons is nice in a V8 car...
Unfortunately times are rough and yeah it’s a outside build. I had a shop from 2003-2010 but closed my doors and moved everything I had to my parents property. I’m still putting the rearend back together, I just got my 3rd member back from the machine shop
I thought about this too, I’m going to a race shop next week to look at fuel cells. I was thinking if they had one close to the size of the 70 tank I can weld a ledge so it goes into the trunk the same way as the stock tank
Im in the process of cutting the floor for the mustang tank its the best way to get a factory look and a little better placement
