What kind of vehicle did you tell them you needed a flywheel for? Just tell them you have a 1971 302 Maverick .... Apparantly your clutch mounted just fine on the flywheel. Again ... I'm not sure if that will be the case if you get the correct 28oz flywheel. Compare the size of the offset weights on all your flywheels. the 28oz will have a smaller weight ..

i just looked at the original 289 flywheel and the 5.0 flywheel, and i can see what you were saying to bad the new ones in the car and i trusted O'Reilly's too much to compare the two before i put it in. i guess ill have to order a different one later on. thanks again for all your help, if i hadnt talked to you i still would have been scratching my head

to the best of my knoweledge a 28 oz 157 tooth flywheel was never made for ford that was used on the t5's, unless the early flywheels from the 70's will work.

anyhow, they changed the balance factor in 81 to 50 oz.

not sure if that link will work or not, but I searched 28 flywheel ford and came up with one or two that would work for you

i'm also betting they gave you the wrong one.

Thank you also for doing the swap at the same time that i'm also doing this. I have not got the pedals yet but i'm working on this. I'm sure this thread is not over yet though, i'm sure there will be others that will do this swap.

Centerforce makes a diaphram clutch that that has the mounting holes in the old pattern. It's what I used on my old 302 & 347 w/T5.
