Frank, you could be a little more clear on what the topic of this thread is supposed to be?

I look forward to reading your posts. I plan an AOD swap into my '77. I await your results with anticipation.

Went by the shop today...all is going well.

he took an empty aod case and put the tailshaft and pan on it and used it to mock up the install.
had to drop pass. header to get it up to be bolted on. we put the header back on and tomorrow we will take out the aod with it on to see if anything needs to be changed.
got the trans. mount mod. done and will install it also.
got the trans. lines cut and doing the flars in the morning.
the driveshaft is not stock so i am going to get another one that is and see if it fits.
the aod i am using is 1/4th in. longer than the c4.
we hooked up the ...floor shifter...and it will work (y)

got some pics. and will post them later...frank...:bouncy:

Interested to see how the floor shifter worked. I wonder if the car your tranny came out of has a different linkage than the mustang AODs do. Look forward to the pics. My stock driveshaft fits fine with the aod in my car. Did your headers touch the tranny pan? I had to take my pass. side header off also to the aod in but with it bolted up and the header back in, both header flanges touch the seam between the pan and the tranny. I have Hedman headers, yours may be different.

He said his AOD is out of a truck. I'd bet the shift arm is no where near the same as a Mustang.

Frank, I have a few stock driveshafts laying around if you need one to use as a test fit. May be more of a PITA to get it down there then it's worth though.

Hey frank, I waited all night for them pics [IMG] . I guess you ment later than I thought...:D
I guess I missed where you mentioned what the trans came out of, Jamie said a truck. Which truck and year and what was the deciding factor(s) for your choice?
So 1/4 in longer trans makes a difference in drive shaft choice? If so, I did'nt know that. I thought the part that goes unto the out put shaft was short/long enough to handle slight changes in lengths. If not I guess the yokes on me,LOL... Hope you get it with minimal troubles:cool:

sorry about causing you to loose the sleep :slap: .
    the deciding factor...
this AOD came out of an eighty year old mans truck he bought new...
kind of like the ..."little ol' lady" car...this is the "little ol' man" truck :D .
the 1/4th in. doesn't make a diff. it is my driveshaft is custom and it was longer than a stock...:bouncy: ...
