-Here's something else i just found in Brazil:
-Reproduction cast aluminum scoops for the 71-72 Grabber hood.

When are you going to give pricing? You have 3 pages of interested parties wanting the parts, me included.

 

Yes.....are you selling these parts.....or just gauging interest?

 

Anybody can find these parts...but can you get them...and at a decent price???

Put yourself in our place. We are in a fairly tight-knit community of Maverick lovers on this site. A new guy shows up, doesn't really introduce himself to any extent, never mentions he owns a Maverick, wants a Maverick, or even likes Mavericks, and all his posts have to do with saying he can Brazilian parts. He posts pictures of these parts in other threads dealing with body work on a hood and others and all the pictures he posts are from e-Bay items on the Brazilian site. He offers no credentials, no background, and no pricing. He is not known by anybody on this forum. What would you think?

All we ask is that you show some validity by posting a web site with the parts and prices in U.S. dollars or post those on here. An importer would bring in the parts, price them in U.S. dollars, and charge shipping from his location.

I am not attacking you. I am giving you the same exact treatment I do to any never-before-seen or met salesperson.

 

Brazilian parts explanation

-I joined this community on last Sunday,today is Wednesday i had a lot of emails asking for quotes on parts ,i replied all of them in a realistic way ,in order to give everybody a fair price and fair quality i'll need some time.
-Basically almost each one of those parts you'll see posted are made
by a different manufacturer in a different part of the country and Brazil is a big country,look on the map,some of the manufacturers are 2.000 miles apart from each other.
-Also Brazil is a closed country,almost like Albanya was,nothing gets in or out without you having to sit on the lap of some government official or bribing somebody,it's not like America that you make a phone call and right away the UPS is knocking at your door,customs is a provoked nightmare
made to keep things as they are,i.e. CLOSED to the rest of the world,otherwise anybody could go to their ebay, buy stuff and have it shipped anywhere in the world.
-Besides,there are 2 other things mandatory when you're doing business
with Brazil,you gotta have somebody to inspect everything(physically) before you ship overseas,to avoid being ripped off,like getting a broken part,low quality or even an empty box!
-I don't want to have problems here,it's been 3 full days since i posted
the pictures,i didn't had even time yet to give people an estimate and i already have 3rd parties raising suspicion that i am a crook and want to rip off people in this community,it's really ridiculous.
-Why people is so affected by this,i don't know,what i know is,my aim is to find a way to send that stuff here quickly,inexpensively,safely and to make a couple of bucks on the side,so everybody gets happy,and when i say everybody
i say in Brazil too,the manufacturers,which is people that probably are having a hard time trying to sell superfluous stuff in a ruined economy.
-My main business is not parts,like i stated before and this is something that i'll do as a hobby,probably never will live off of it.
-So,please be patient,i work long hours,have always a very hectic schedule,and my contact down there is already working hard on those estimates,and i promise everybody will get their parts for a fair price.

I would think the only way to really make the prices of these parts reasonable ... is to get a representative from AutoKrafters to fly to Brazil. Wheel and deal and spend maybe $100K on parts ... pack them all in a shipping container and put them on a boat to the USA. Doing it piece by piece is just unfeasible.

I have a friend that is an AUDI fanatic. He flys over to Europe several times a year and buys new factory parts that are no longer sold in the USA. He packs them all in a shipping container and send them back here. He makes a fortune selling the parts to people here in the USA. Shipping the container may cost a couple of grand but he makes up for it on his markup. His wife also works for DELTA so he flys for free.

If it sounds to good to be true most of the time it is. Not always but mostly....

 

You're right Dan, the only way for it to ever be even close to feasible is for someone to buy a large volume of parts and ship them all in one shipping container back to the U.S. This would be difficult though, because there are so many different sellers involved down there. The individual sellers won't be willing to offer much of a discount unless you buy quite a few parts from each of them. Then you'd have to wonder whether individual craftsmen could handle making very many and how long it would take. You'd pretty much have to have them all made up in advance, then fly down and pay each seller and gather up the parts. But imagine the logistics when sellers can be 2000 miles apart. You'd also need someone to translate for you and they'd expect to be paid something. You'd have to set up with a shipping company and pack the stuff, especially the fiberglass, well. You'd have to be able to deal with customs too. And then the shipping expense which would be at least $2000 or more for a container. Add the cost of your flight, interpreter, car rental in Brazil, hotel, meals, and misc expenses involved and this likely becomes unfeasible too. How much could anyone really expect to mark up the stuff and still be able to sell them? You'd end up with billet grills that cost $750 each, and fiberglass Grabber hoods that would have to sell for $1000 in order to recoup all the costs and expenses and then make any decent profit for all the trouble. I won't say it can't be done though. I'd personally love to have some of the custom stuff myself, but once I saw that shipping for a front valance/spoiler would be around $800, that ended that. I wish this guy luck; he'll need it.
