You're kinda missing the point! The fact that you have discs is just gravy! If you get the whole car for 250, and the discs are there and good, you can likely get the whole 250 back just from selling those! Since you already have discs, you can break even this way. Otherwise you would do best by putting them on your car and find another way to recoup the 250. Don't look at what you can use! Get the thing, recoup your money, then look at the rest. What you can use, take it off the top as free parts, then sell the rest as compensation for your work parting it out. It all depends on what is left of the car. Is the engine/tranny salvagable? Does it have an 8" or 9"? Does it have drum or disc in front? Etc...
idk yet i havent seen it but from what im told it took a pretty bad hit in the front end, the guy that told me about it specifically mentioned the radiator being junk when i said i could use some parts. I left a message with the guy so hopefully i'll hear back sometime soon. then again my defination of "unsalvagable" is uaually alot more the most people's. and i have a feeling the kid doesnt even know how much he can get for the parts if he was just going to let it get taken to the junk yard for a little over $200
I really like those wheels on the Cougar!Get it and part it,EASY money back on that one, plus a few parts for yourself.
THOSE TAIL LIGHTS ARE SWEET! I would force them to work. They are killer with the grilled look and panel-filling size. Our cars are so easy to customize and inexpensive to work on(for the basic stuff) that I can't see owning one and not making it as unique as the owners personalities are. Mine is coming along nicely and if I could I'd stuff those Cougar lights all up in my rear panel.(that didn't sound right...) My Comet would OWN with those bad boys out back! Backup lights are neat also. I never even thought of it but they look great installed.
The old Mavstang had those tail lights. With the grilles over the lenses, they look a little too big for my taste on our cars. If you look at the Cougar, the lights are recessed into the trunk area and they look semi-flush. Our cars have flat rear panels, no recess, so they stick off the rear panel several inches. Look very out of place with the grilles IMO. Somewhat gaudy. HOWEVER... Shelby used those tail lights for a while on his Stangs without the big chrome grilles on them, and they look much cleaner that way. I think some members here have the Shelby tails like that on their Mav/Coms. All they are is those lenses with a simple bezel around the outside, no grilles. Shelby used those and he used 65 T-bird lenses on some years. I'll see if I can find the pics, and I'll edit them in here.
Dave hit it on the head. Too big, and stick out too far for a Maverick. I've seen a few Mavericks with Cougar lights, not my cup of tea.
I tried to find some pics of the Cougar lights on a Mav without the grille, Shelby style, but I haven't had any luck. I ran across the T-Bird version Shelby used though. These are on a Stang, but the pic is neat because it shows the sequentials. Also shows how much lower profile the lights are on a flat panel vs the Cougars.
Yeah, your's look sweet! Those 69s are significantly different from 67s though from what I can tell. They don't stick way off the rear panel, looks to me.
Derek is correct, those are 1969 Cougar tail light lenses. $250 would be a very good price for a Cougar parts car. Check it for disc brakes, tilt/swing-away steering column, console, rear window defogger, headrests, rust free dent free sheetmetal and quarter panels are worth $150 per panel. A 289 or 302 Cougar will have an 8 inch rear end. Some other goodies, especially if it is an XR7.
thanks. most of them are mounted on the inside the trunk. i only mounted trim ring on the outside, other wise they would have stuck out way to far.67 and 68 are the same.69 and 70 are pretty much the same
Picture didn't load right away on my end. Those are Cougar factory styled steel wheels. Depending upon condition, those should be worth an easy $200, more if they have the caps and good rings. The aluminum wheel lip moldings have value if not dented or dinged up. A set of 4 NOS, are about $800.
I was under the impression that all 60s' Cougars had 9" rear ends.I had 2.One 289 4 spd W/9" open diff it was a 68.Other was an XR7G,428 CJ 4 spd W/9" posi w/3:91 gears.(Yeah shoulda kept it)
