The only 289 cars that came with 9" rears were K-codes.
    Commonly known as HiPo 289s.

Sounds like you should have kept that one too.

would the 8'' cars usually have a good gear ratio?

ok so im 99% sure me and my bud are probabaly gonna go half since im kinda broke and he has a shop to keep it. were gonna strip it, i keep a few things i want for the mav and everything else gets sold and profits divied up from there. i talked to the guy over email tonight. the front end is mangled and the pas side wheel is really kicked back but it has a low mile original v8 under the hood with an aftermarket intake. the guy really doesnt know th car that well to give me any specific details but im checking it out and probably towing it to the shop this weekend

How bad is the car? do you have any pictures? If it's just front end damage, you might be able to sell the car as one piece and make way more than 250.

Restore that sucker! Cougars are superior muscle and harder to find than Mustangs.

ok so i sen the car...

even before gtting hit it was a rust bucket. the rear 1/4's are shot to hell all up over the wheel and the front frame was rotted too. hood's ok but rotted and the good fender has a hole at the bottom. the passenderside grill and fender are totled and the front valence and grill

all the glass is good, the interior is almost perfect with buckets and floor shiftr in light brown lether.

i think the rear is a 9'', its definatly a bigger pumpkin then the 8'' in the maverick. under the hood its a C4 302 but we couldnt get the hood up and the battery was dead but he says it has a little over 100tho miles. the trans cooler and radiator were also cracked

we'll probably be picking it up tomorrow aftrnoon. if it wasnt for all the rust i would fix the accident damage but i dont want to put that much money into somthing thats already a bucket before it got hit

the kid just wants to get rid of it since its an "eyesore". he's in the market for a late 90's nissan 240SX now...

See if a socket fits on the bottom nut on the chunk. If not its a 9" 8s' you can use a socket on every nut,9s' you cant(bulge in pinion housing) keeps you from useing a socket on the bottom under the pinion.

Here's a pic of those lights and shows how far they stick off when the Cougar bezels and grilles are used.
When just the lenses and Shelby trim are used, they don't stick off but half as much.

Not sure if the trim is on it or not, but I like the look without the bezels.

Yeah, without the trim, they don't stick off near as much.

I think that one would look cool with the Shelby bezel.
All the Shelby version is, is a thin piece of metal that surrounds the lens.
Nothing fat, gaudy, or anything that adds to how 'thick' the setup is on the rear panel.

Here they are just as Shelby used them in 67...
Cougar lights without the bezel/grille, just outside trim.

would the cougar motor mounts be a close enough fit for a maverick?
