I have 2 GT grills. Spares if I break one. All 71 & 72 GT grills are black with the stainless strips but I have saw and have owned some 71-72 argent grills with the stainless strips.
Mine is wire shelving bent to fit and attached with handmade tags. I used a mesh behind it that is ziptied with the smallest size zips I could find. I recently spray painted the wire silver to cover the dingy white that it was. Looks fairly okay from a distance but certainly not a concours correct numbers matching trailer queen like the 68 Shelby 500KR I saw at the last show I was at. Poor thing looked like it hadn't burned a wheel in 35 years. I have all but given up on finding a Comet grill in decent shape for next to nothing(which is what I can afford LOL). I am considering redoing the whole thing and fabbing up something to hide the turn signals behind everything or even relocate them to the lower valance just to be a weirdo. These aren't Ferraris so I like to tinker. When all else fails, get creative.
