If you really want that Mav to be fast, use an LS1 variant... (LS1,LS2,LS6)

The small block Chevy has been done to death. I have seen pics of them in the Maverick, some with the shock towers still in place (but shaved).

It should be 'relatively' easy with an M2 suspension.
Then you would just need to fab headers and engine mounts for the most part. A tranny crossmember with a small GM tranny, then put a hybrid driveshaft together to mate it all up. You never know, a T350 might not even need the shaft length altered. If that was the case, you could just use a swap u-joint up front and be done with the driveline.
    Good luck
    Take pics
    Dave

Btw: Personally I do not agree with the swap idea, but it is NOT MY CAR!

if you wanna drop a chevy motor in a ford go with the older trucks they fit well and motor mounts are easy to make work but a maverick if u wanna make it fast with the difficulty u are talking about put a 351 in it it would be cheaper and easyer put the lt1 in an old nova or ventura same thing diff. grill and tail lights little heavyer but suff. for a good motor played with them in my earlyer years and oh yea dont forget the omega better looking than the ventura front end and tail lights good luck dude

    Yes, it will work....

Ok, forget the Mustang II suspension. It seems nobody has an open mind here. Let's all take a look under the hood and under the front end, of a 65-67 Chevy II / Nova. It has the same basic design as the Mavericks do. I helped a friend out years ago with a small block Chevy sway into a '67 Mustang. You go get the iol pan, oil pump and oil pump pick up tube the the old Chevy II. Then, you may have to fabricate or buy the engine swap mounts. We made solid mounts on the Mustang conversion. The trans mount situation was simple enough too. It was a matter of getting the right mount for the GM trans and it bolted right on the Maverick V-8 trans. bracket. Exhaust may be a little tricky, but, still manageable. You may get lucky with a set for the Chevy II or you may have to run stock manifolds. But, you may have to look find ones that have different outlet positions. All in all, it is possible to do. Hope this helps. (y)

Thats pretty good. Now tell me how to put a 351W in a 64 corvette. Then tell me all about narrowed minded people. :D

    Narrow minded??

Well, the term 'Narrow Minded' was not used. I said 'open minded'. I am NOT a GM fan by no means. I've never owned a GM product. I have had 4 Mavericks and 2 Ford trucks and a '72 Cougar at one poing in time. I was just trying to help exlpain how to go about the process of doing the nasty.....installing a GM motor in a Ford.....Maverick at that. Now, Let's see....a 351w in a '64 vette.......How about start looking at an oil pan from an early Enonoline....LOL....:hmmm:

This thread keeps re-appearing. I have always wondered if the LT1 was ever installed?
