I need new sheet metal in the rear floor pans, battery area and cowl vent. We all know that Falcons, Mustangs and Mavericks all are basically the same unibody. Anyone have any luck using Mustang sheet metal on thier Maverick. I plan on doing some measuringe and visiting a local Mustang parts house to see what will and won't fit - expecially floor pans and fender apron parts.

I've got rust in the rear floor too....

It would be great to find out the details on what should be put in to patch the rust (versus just random sheet metal squares...)

Lower outer wheel house panel from a 1965 Mustang will work on a Maverick...used one on mine. Just need a little triming.

I tried to use 67 floor patch panels on my 72 but they required so much modifications, i found it easier to buy flat stock and make my own. A 4X8 piece of 18 ga flat stock is only about $25 .

Ditto Mavaholic's comment re: Mustang patch panels. I bought one for where the drivers side passenger's feet rest cause my 72 was rotted through. Not even close. I also just bought a hunk of sheet metal, and roped my brother into installing it when he was in town for a visit. A little spray undercoat and it's hard to tell the patch is even there. Tom

Were you guys both doing the front pans or rear pans. I got the rear Mustang floor pan measurements (65-73 all use the same pans) and they are pretty near right on with the Maverick - of course it's tough measuring in the car.

I was doing just where the rear seat passenger's feet go (left side). Ordered a stang part and set it on the floor (seats, carpet removed). No way it would fit so I shipped it back.

Do they reproduce Falcon sheetmetal. I assume so, but you never know. Anyway, if they do I think that they would fit better than Mustang sheetmetal. Anyone tried?

Okay guys, here's what I did. I bought my '74 'bout four years ago. I knew it had bad floor pans so the first thing I did was strip out the interior to see how bad it was. The whole drivers side from firewall to the front seat area needed replaced, as did the area between front and back seat. On the passenger side, only the front floor pan needed replaced.

I took measurements off of my car and my friends '70 Mustang. While not exactly the same size, they were close enough that I felt comfortable using the front & rear patch panels. So, I ordered them from J.C. Whitney. With a bit of trimming they fit great and we welded them in place in one day.

I put both pans in full length on my 71 from 79 t0 93 stang. they are the same width and length but was some work. if u tried patch panels though I think they would fit rite in

I think he's got it fixed already. That post is about 7 years old. :)
Still good info. Any chance you took pics of the install?

Does anyone know if a 70 Maverick rear bumper is the same as 65-66 Mustang? Thanks Ole man.

If you put a fuse in backwards will it reverse the polarity?
