70 year old retired Vietnam to Desert Storm Army vet. Gear head forever. Vintage camper enthusiast. I fix restore and use them. Several in the immediate family.. Have been looking for a period correct car as tow vehicle. Giving up my kick butt '99 Miata (getting kind of hard to get in and out of at my age but is it sure is fun) and taking delivery of a 1967 Comet Caliente 4 door, 289, 2 barrel, c4 on Friday to pull my 1955 Comet canned ham camper. Car has 77000 mile stock running gear. Plan to go through it from bumper to bumper (rebuild 289 and c4) just for reliability as I plan on a 3 or 4 month tour this summer to see some of the country. Figure on adding a decent street intake, 4 barrel and decent exhaust to pick up a few horses on what I believe is a 200 hp engine. Not being a knowledgeable Ford guy I will be reading a lot and asking for some advice. Looking for a factory trailer hitch for this. Alan G

Welcome to the site and Thank you for your service!
This forum supports 1971-1977 Comets that are the Mercury counterparts to the Ford Maverick. Lots of good info that crosses over to your 67 though. Suspension and drivetrain components are similar if not identical.
