Been lurking here for almost a year now, here's my back story.... My family has been a maverick family since i was a kid, started with my dad's mav (a 1974 2 door) that was when we lived in AZ bought for $750 and when i crashed (rolled it 6 times sideways and 2 times end over end when i was 16yrs) it had over 400,000 on the original 302 (this is true- it went through 2 qts of oil every fill up). since then my brother and i have had 7 mavs, of various years and conditions. Since 2007 my brother was restoring a 1970, then last year he was tragically killed in a car accident (t-boned by a loaded cement truck). this is when i took the reigns of his maverick build.... when he passed the complete front end was off, had no interior, no gas tank (needed alot) before the funeral we had all of his/out friends get together to complete the car and have it for the funeral, people worked around the clock, litterely like on overhauling, but the goal was just to have it running. people donated time, talents, moral support, and parts. Since then I've change the engine, and done the interior (still and alway will be a work in progress) specs: 1970 Ford Mav 2 door 302 ci (1986 mustang, stock overhaul, summit brand intake, holley 450cfm, headers) c4 trans (3000 stall, all hardened internals, setup for race) interior (2007 mercury milan, leather seats front and rear, power and work)
Powerful story. The Mav progress looks great! I'm sure you and your family will have a lot of fun with it!
Welcome Dan. Sorry for your loss. You're in good company here. I like the fold-down cup holder in the back seat! I remember when my son was that old....they grow up fast.
from Northeast Pennsylvania That car will be a wonderful tribute to your brother and for your whole family Love the deep blue color
Your a great brother. It was mentioned before that he would be proud and I agree. I have thoughts of my car being junked cause there is no one here that knows what my car is worth or what it means/ment to me. It would most likely not get another thing done to it and would get haulled off. To complete your brothers project for him says alot of how much he ment to you. Thanks for shareing your story.
to the board.... Nice tribute to your brother. I'm hoping my car stays in the family & is enjoyed. But, they won't care & all they'll want is for it to be gone...
welcome ! where did you buy the wide cog fanbelt system? It looks great ,and the hood scoop, also great paint.
