those chicks would be granny now a days if theyre still around anyways... but im sayin that the chick with the mavey looks sexy, dats all
i read this thread (ok half of it) i live int Tulsa Oklahoma every year we have the mid america shelby and ford meet here last time was the 35th aniversary and im telling you right now the only reason no one is heavy on looking for a "shelby maverick" cause it would be impossible to prove but if you could you could start a bidding frenzy in the middel of the meet. yes dodge had a couple shleby's but there not allowed in the mid america shelby meet fords only and thats best part but a clue if were to look for one it would be the one in the photo since it was in the show there has to be recored of it a regristation or somthing somwhere identifying that car as a shelby its probably the only one that can be proved and although not a real shelby it is history you all may not like it casue it has no hp adders but it doesnt matter pepole collect history not hp 99% of the restored shelbys out there see the light of day 2 or 3 times a years no one cares how fast it is just thats it is part of the history and legacy of shelby motor cars
As I have stated on here in the past, from what I understand from enthusiasts in Mexico, there is no way to verify a real Shelby Maverick without an invoice from the dealer or Shelby de Mexico with the serial number of the vehicle. But I agree that no matter what some people say, if a documented one ever turned up, it would garner A LOT of attention (and money) in the Ford and Shelby communities due to its rarity, regardless that it didn't have Shelby's actual involvement in it's construction (neither did the '69-70 Shelby Mustangs either, really). Also, since the Shelby Mavericks had the Shelby aluminum intakes, 4-barrels, a 4-speed, and dual exhaust, I don't think it's correct to say they didn't have additional performance. I've never seen any tests on them, but we all know that a similarly modified Maverick should have outperformed all but the highest performance model Mustangs from that year. The '71 Mustangs were behemoths. It doesn't take much extra power to get a lightweight Maverick to perform well. With only 303 produced and none documented to exist, if anyone found a documented one, I'm sure it would go far out of most our price ranges when it hit eBay or Barrett Jackson...
This thread? Again? Someone needs to lock it down. Or better, we can start an "undead thread" section, where we can file this one, and the invisible radiator thread.
We have to remember, that while this thread is like beating a dead horse for long-time regulars on here, for a new member, finding out a Shelby Maverick even existed is big news. And it's good to have the photos and information about the real ones so a novice doesn't get duped by someone trying to sell some knockoff with some Shelby emblems.
I was just trying to make a joke. Man, it must be the time change or something. Everyone is so serious and touchy around here lately...
Yeah and he showed the guy that asked him that very same question the Shelby Maverick that he had in his garage but told the guy that he could not take a picture of it as it was a little dusty and it would not look good in a picture................. really, i wouldn't lie about something like that.
