New Info!!! I could not get them to acknowledge us while Carroll was alive, But I have been in touch with the Shelby Registry and they are going to run a article on Shelby de Mexico's history in the next year registry for 1968.1969,1970. They even mention us! They are going to show a nice side view of the Maverick at the expo. And give a little run down on the maverick. They even comment that on that year the Shelby maverick sold more than the Shelby Mustang! Finally We are no longer the "stepchildren"! We will have a spot to point to and say Cee I mean SEE !!! H20- Sorry I was trying to copy the pdf so everyone could read it, but for whatever reason I could not get it to transfer.
Shelby Registry, the beginning of the end of the poor mans mustang. Why.... you do realize that the maverick is now going to become more popular...and the parts more expensive. As demand goes up, as supply sure is hell isn't going to increase. Well my car build is dead. Gonna park it and wait for the prices to rise, and sale the P.O.S. Gonna go find a new dream now.
As a matter of fact if it indeed becomes more popular, aftermarket parts would begin to appear and surely cheaper. Cheer up man, no need to be a pesimist.
Sorry it was a a satire post. As, Shelby De Mexico being acknowledged as a Shelby Maverick wont make a flying rip on the maverick world. I love the story, but as it is IMPOSSIBLE to prove one way or another a true Shelby Maverick.... I don't care if mavericks ever become popular or not though. I have one. It will NEVER be sold. And lucky it...its going to be a custom build this time around. If they start reproducing parts in the future, will be rebuilt to 1971 grabber build specs. I doubt it will ever happen though as much as a lot of us Dream and wish for it to happen. Sorry, I couldn't help but vent some of my maverick ownership frustration through a sarcastic posting.
I should of kept my mouth or fingers quiet ...but after reading this thread for 4 hours yesterday I am annoyed at myself and everyone else who is still obsessed over the Shelby connection.
"Shelby de Mexico, during the 1971 model year, built approximately 200 Shelby Mustang GT-351s (Windsor engines) and 300 Shelby Mavericks powered by 302hp engines." http://sarin.lunarpages.com/~musta4/mustangtrivia/shelbydemexico.htm id like to know where these guys get their resources from
