I have a 74 Comet with small bumper parts from a Maverick. It was someone elses headache that had to be sold instead of finished. It has identity issues, and would love to take on the persona of that fabled green Mexican Shelby. A unicorn is something an old unfinished beater would dream about becoming.....a one of a kind knock off of a fable, but I like that green.

:evilsmile:mine will be that minotaur - 46 Pontiac led tail lights with spider webbing -flip up side fill gas tank- flat rear panel - hidden antennae that comes up out of the rear quarter panel - 65 mustang gt tail pipes that come out the stock rear valance with 65 stang back up lights a replica cobra jet ''shaker hood'' hood mounted tach camaro chin spoiler no emblems anywhere low to the ground . The ''Maverick restoration Purists'' won't be able to sleep at night after seeing the car go by it will haunt them how I have ''butchered'' a stock car they will cry out for justice but it won't happen .The ''cobra jet Maverick'' will disappear in a cloud of tire smoke a madman at the wheel.

Lol.......I dont know what a 46 poncho looks like, but sounds like you are combining all things...... factory, custom, from many decades, all wrapped up in a rear wheel fog machine! It will be pure in the one of a kind sense, and it will scratch an itch that a car confined to factory spec cant get to.

This thread is about actual Shelby Mavericks that were made for Mexico. That car looks nothing like those cars, although it's interesting to look at.

It's got several things I like, but several others I don't. - I guess I could build one of my Comets to clone the Shelby Maverick.

My Comet came with a Maverick front end. I have kept my eyes open for a comet grille and hood, but so far have only bought a Comet front bumper! Since my car has no grasp of either, I have thought of doing a tribute to the Mexican Shelby, minus the hood tach. I have a chin spoiler, slots, and sport mirrors......so I am part way there.

It's all PC No, really Frank, I think the difference is this.
Clone- starting with a Comet since it shares the same DNA of the Shelby Maverick.
Tribute- starting with a Maverick and changing it into a Comet, then making it a Shelby Maverick.
