I'd take the Boss 302 Maverick over the "Shelby" Maverick anyday,....but then, I like preformance modifications.

I'll leave the cosmetic bolt-ons, cheesy overdone wings and gaudy stickers to the ricer crowd.

I didn't say I wouldn't be impressed. I just said I don't believe their value would be anywhere near that of a "real" Shelby Maverick. And you said it; "to each his own." Since we'll probably never find either one, the argument is moot.

What tune is that? Cool lyrics.

Hey, how's the weather out in Cali.......I'm hitting the road Tuesday on a trip to Ventura Co. (my old stomping grounds)

Sadly, it won't be in a Maverick....I'll have to suffer the road trip in a brand new fully equipped Ford Explorer I rented ;)

Its "sad but true" by metallica its on their self-titled album("The Black Album")(y)

The weather is pretty weird right now on thursday it was like 65 all day then on friday it was hot as hell. The wheather girl predicted it to be in the 70's all week. But the best thing about cali weather is the rust free cars and the chicks at the beach:cool:

Hey aren't the mavs in europe like the explorers here?

ya I dont really think it's that nice of a mav. I also agree I like the american grabber better. T.L. is right it doesn't have the qualities that other shelby's do. It doesn't add up.

Rick Kopek is a very knowlegable person on Shelby history. I would believe what he says. I was a member of the Shelby American Auto club from the begining. ( Back when I owned a couple GT 350 68 shelbys) and spoke with mr. Kopek quit a few times.
As a side note do you know super ford magazine started as the Super Ford Parts exchange? Just a copier type newsletter full of ford parts for sale. after a few issues they started doing profiles on rare ford Cars. Thunderbolt, Cougar Eliminator, Boss 429 etc. I had all those issues complete from the second issue along with all the Shelby American magazines from issue 1 up until about 1979. Unfortunatly I sold them all about 10 years ago. I sold the Shelbys in 1983 or early 84

All I can think of is that even if they were built, even if one was "found".....the "lucky" finder can never claim it's a "Shelby" Maverick with any more credibility or certainty than anyone who slaps "Shelby" parts on a Mexican Maverick and makes the claim.

The simple, sad truth is, without any serial number or special VIN code to indicate it.... no way to document it, no way to prove it's origins....it would always be a "maybe, but not likely", always suspected as a fraud of something never made, at best, a clone of something that may have been. Never valued as anything more than a bolt-on cutomized Maverick....any actual Shelby Maverick was, and is, forever lost.

So, the Shelby Maverick doesn't exist,.....even if it does.
