Rick, Katie has a beautiful smile. She, like my daughters, gets her good looks from her mother. Sarah's car is going to the body shop on Sunday. It will not be ready for her birthday (I've had some health prioblems) like I had hoped, but I will post a pic of her smile when it comes home. BTW, you can be 3-point retractables at most any restotation parts dealer. I bought the ones for Sarah's car at Melvin's Classic Ford Parts for $65 a set. They work great an look factory stock.
Pics of Seatbelts. I had posted these earlier, but I have eveidently removed the pics. Here they are again.
i bought a set at a junkyard from a volkswagon beetle that looked just like those. they went into the gray two door i had to sell a few years back. i had to clean some grease and dirt off the strapping but got the set ups at 30 dollars a seat. just a thought
Those look great Terry, I missed that post too. I'll see if I can find the thread. I would prefer to put new belts in the Grabber rather than use old ones.
you know what this means... she has to create a user account now and start "learning"... she actually looks real good in that car.. almost like it was bought for her.. hehehe.. tell her we are all happy for her, and we wish her the best.. good luck on fixing it up
Hello Rick, Katie looks like a smart girl.. ..I'm sure she will take care of the little car,and I'm sure she'll learn alot...:bananaman ..especially with a "Dad" for a teacher
Katie is a doll, Rick. I'll bet she's amost as proud of her Maverick as you are of her! Congrats to both of you. (note to Katie: Get yourself a username and give us the dirt on Dad. )
Congrats to Katie on the new D.L. and the car. Looks like you made her Happy! Rick there is nothing like the feeling of when your "new" driver turns back in to the driveway after that first trip "all by their self"
Thanks for all the kind words and compliments, Katies first driving experience in the car left a little to be desired when we almost found our way into a ditch, Dad had to take over from there. All the safety upgrades are in the works along with the rewiring of lights with relays. She wanted to start refurbing the engine compartment first, I think the valve cover gasket had been leaking for the last 30 years... I wish I had got a pic of her after working on cleaning it all day, she was covered in grease, I told her, her mascara was running, she said she wasn't wearing any mascara so I asked what was that all over her face, she couldn't find a mirror fast enuf... Here's a before pic,...she will have to create a user account to show any progress from here on out.
I think a trip to the car wash with it set on engine degreaser or tire cleaner first would be good to get the biggest part clean.
